Worlds countdown and moving to BORA

The season finale is slowly approaching, but there are still a few highlights to come. In meantime I have arrived in Innsbruck, where this year’s World Championships will take place. I will be at the start of all three races. In the team time trial, winning the title is the clear goal of my team Quick-Step Floors Cycling Team. We just had a short training camp to test our formation. And I must say, we did quite well.

The individual time trial will be my first one at an elite Worlds. There s a very strong field. I would be happy with a place in the Top Ten. Finishing near the top would be wonderful of course, but for that to happen I would have to ride a perfect race.

We Germans are not really amongst the favourites for the road race. I think that we will have to play our role cleverly if we want to accomplish something. As for me, I have to see how I come out of the two time trials and feel in the road race a week from Sunday. I will of course integrate myself in the team 100 percent and ride fully for a good team result. It doesn’t matter which of us is best in the end.

As you have probably already seen, I have signed with Team BORA-hansgrohe for the next two years. I am very happy to become a part of this great team. I am totally convinced that BORA-hansgrohe is the right team for me to be able to continue to develop athletically. Of course that it is a German team is another good aspect. Thanks to my current team Quick-Step Floors, who made my step up into the WorldTour possible and has brought me along well. I was also very well supported after my crash last year.
