I felt really good at the Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday and in the end I could bring in another fifth place on the wall. As a team we tried to shape the race and rode aggressively. Our plan was to make the decisive move on the last climb of the Mur. The whole team put in some super work but unfortunately we couldn't produce the wished-for race situation. After 190 km of racing I had suppressed how brutally steep the climb up to Huy is, but in the end I am super happy with the fifth place.
On Sunday we take on Lüttich-Bastogne-Lüttich the last Classic in the Ardennes. Once again we face 265km with the best Classics weather, 3-8 degrees and rain. That means dress warmly, save as much energy as possible and be sure to eat enough. We have again ridden over the decisive stretches and are as ready as possible. Now is time to recuperate and regenerate. As a team, we will have a good plan to shape the race. Let's see if I can confirm my fifth place and so achieve the triple in the Ardenne ;-) Yours, Maximilian.
