The Tour of Poland 2020 is history and it is not so easy to sum it up. Unfortunately it did not go so well for me. I thought I would have more chances on the mountain stage on Saturday. But about halfway through the stage I was involved in a crash, along with Richard Carapaz (Team Ineos) who until then had worn the yellow jersey.
After the climb the race really took off and on the next descent I had problems with the saddle. In the crash, apparently the tip of the saddle had moved upwards. Since our bikes are exactly fitted to each individual rider, you notice immediately every millimeter difference. There was no time to change bikes and after 30 difficult kilometers in the wrong seat position, I had to give up my goal of riding for the stage win. That was not my day...
On the last stage I put myself fully in the service of Pascal Ackermann. Unforunately he too narrowly missed the hoped-for stage win.
This coming Saturday I will again test my form in one-day races in Lombardia, before the Tour starts the end of August.
